malwarebytes the blue screen didnt show up anymore. But the problem is,
that alot of thing are all messed up now. For example, the brightness
wont go up or down, i'm missing the battery icon (on the device manager
it has that little excalmation mark next to it), when i turn on laptop
the mouse (not the touchpad) wont work after a couple of minutes, which
never use to happen like this. it also wont open some programs like
google chrome. I have windows 7 installed also and when i boot into that
one, everything works perfectly...

banks) is giving me troubles already over the last few weeks.Occasional
BSOD (IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, BAD_SPOOLER, NTFS.SYS, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT,
etc.) or bootup problems pointing to some memory problems. With Vista
Boot/Repair CD that could always be fixed - so far.

Until today. Computer doesn't boot anymore, no difference if Safe Mode,
Normal or Last Known Good Configuration. Vista Repair CD doesn't detect
and can't repair any startup errors.

So I ran Memory Test which came back with "Hardware Problem detected"
right away. So probably 1 or both Memory bars are defect or even a bank
or 2.

Here is what I did to further consolidate the error and the occuring
symptoms:

- both memory stick in both banks

no bootup, computer starts, Vista green progress bar appears short
time, then black screen with hd activity for ever

- only 1 meory stick (0) in bank (0)

bootup till blue Vista bubble, than "Please wait" on Vista background
screen, then black sreen with mouse cursor only, cursor is working, but
no other activity, no CTRL-ALT-DEL possible, only switch off

- only 1 memory stick (1) in bank (1)

bootup till blue Vista bubble, than "Please wait" on Vista background
screen, then black sreen with mouse cursor only, cursor is working, but
no other activity, no CTRL-ALT-DEL possible, only switch off

- only 1 memory stick (1) in bank (0)

bootup till blue Vista bubble, than "Please wait" on Vista background
screen, then black sreen with mouse cursor only, cursor is working, but
no other activity, no CTRL-ALT-DEL possible, only switch off

- only 1 memory stick (0) in bank (1)

no bootup at all. screen stays black and all status LED are blinking

That tells me that either the memory stick or the bank is defect.

Can you please help me identifying what is the best way forward?
Unfortunately I currently live on a small island with no access to
alternative RAM module. Have to go 4 hours to next big town with mall,
where I could buy memory modules if necessary.

What should I look for?

1 memory stick? or 2 right away? And what is the possible hardware
problem? Bank0 or 1? Or only the memory?

Please help me to find the right way, as trial and error can prove
costly for me here in the middle of nowhere. ;-)

Thanks,

Chris

My Toshiba A355-S6940 which is barely 3 months old continued to drop
the Wifi connections several times a day. After browsing around I
realized I should download drivers for it from Toshibadirect.com. So I
downloaded Intel Wi-fi driver after which the Wi-fi connection doesn't
drop but pressing Fn-F4 doesn't put my laptop to sleep anymore.

So as suggested by many people on the web, I went to control panel &
clicked on Device Manager. Selected the Intel Wifi manager and right
clicked on it to view Properties. On Power Management tab, I read that I
need to uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer". But this
option is grayed out for me and disabled.

What do I do?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

64 bit.
I am now getting this message
"Low Disk Space
You are running out of disk space on RECOVERY :D. To free space on this
drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here..."

When I "Click here," I am then offered "Disk Cleanup for RECOVERY (D."
The Disk Cleanup offers "Office Setup Files" and "Recycle Bin," but
both have "0 bytes" so I can't free up space that way.

when I go to my :D
the only folder listed on the :D is the Recovery and when I click on it it
has the HP Invent screen that says:
Recovery Partition
WARNING!!!!
This area of your hard drive(or partition) contains files used for your PC
Recovery
Do not Delete or alter these files
Any changes to this partition could prevent any recovery later.

There are no files listed that I can see, so don't know what is actually on
there, and I want to back this up to my external hard drive.
Is this the way it is supposed to be, and are there actually recovery data
there.
I still have my recovery discs from my old hard drive that ran the same
system so will they work if I need them.
thanks

I've got a problem with my1394 firewire devices. (2 scanner, 1
DVcamcorder and 2 printers)
They all show up under Device manager and all the driver are up to
date (no yellow triangles). They all do the kerpunk sound when plugged
into my computer. But my programs cant see them nor do they show up
under ?My computer? When I first installed Vista Ultimate 64, 4 months
ago, everything worked. One morning upon starting up Vista, it took
forever to load up. Then I noticed my mouse and my keyboard (USB) did
not start at startup. By plugging them in again, Vista reinstalled them.
But from that time onward I haven't been able to get the firewire back
up.

If you have any idea to try or any work around please let me know.

This is very frustrating becuase I've had to go back to XP to get my
work done. All of my devices work fine under XP Pro SP3. I do have a
dual booting system with each OS on different HD drives, not partitions.
Thanks
